27 October 2023
Last week, both of my computers broke down and honestly, I was not really bothered about it; just another salvo during this period of godly sorrow. Going through some housekeeping of my repaired Mac, I chanced upon an old write-up.
In May this year, one member from China was in town but I did not plan on meeting up with her. But upon receiving Mike Bickle’s call to fast and pray for Israel from May 7 to 28, 2024, I felt that we need to heed this call, especially the China members.
So, Florence and I went to meet with Sonia at the hotel. We spent the entire day going through videos and materials relating to this call and downloading them into several devices for her to bring back and disseminate.
She successfully did so and soon enough, we have all of our members in China and Singapore on rotation for the 24/7 fast and prayer for Israel. Being well trained and having practised for years to be readily available for God, they did so without breaking a sweat. I am so proud of them.
Only God would have known that Israel would come under this horrific attack by Hamas five months later, on October 5. In a totally unexpected and well-orchestrated incursion into several parts of Israel, they massacred more than 1200 people, young and old, including shooting of babies, and then taking more than 200 hostages, men and women, young and old.
This could have easily escalated to a world war, or a great war in the region, as the world is divided by the brutality on both sides following this attack. For the distressing state of affairs for which there seems to be no solution, I can only wait on the Lord and pray.
I am thankful that many of us have started decluttering our lives this year as He told us to, so that as we go on this path of godly sorrow in silence, our spirits can be at rest. And from this posture of rest – we may be well poised to pray or act when He calls.
