Buried but Alive

7 October 2023

Continuing with the song “Tend” by Bethel Music and Emmy Rose:

“Through winter, I’m still alive
What You’ve planted in the dirt
Is ever reaching to the light

You prepare me for darkened times
You’ll sustain what You have started
And You’ll teach me to abide

Be the gardener of my heart
Tend the soil of my soul
Break up the fallow ground
Cut back the overgrown

And I won’t shy away
I will let the branches fall
So, what You want can stay
And what You love can grow, grow”

Prayer
Lord, thank you for knowing that I am barely alive, as the weight of all the stress and burdens presses me down hard, firmly refusing to give up its stranglehold. Yet, I know what You are doing for me - to shield me from all the clamour and noise, so that I may continue to stay on this path of godly sorrow.

And, stuck inside the dark dirt of your garden, to simply trust and abide.
